Dr. Kaye loves being a healer, and patients love his gentle demeanor and warm, caring bedside manner.  If you want the best possible Rapid Detox experience, you want Dr. Alan David Kaye and the caring, competent professionals of the Kaye Clinic.

David is a co-founder of the Kaye Clinic, and is responsible for the Clinic's day to day coordination and relationship with the medical staff and Rapid Detox Participant recruitment and overall hospital experience.  He's a unique individual with an impressive and varied background, and “Old World” work ethic and values.

After graduating from high school in New Orleans in 1962, David enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, and served four years at Strategic Air Command bases in Texas and New Mexico.  He excelled in the Air Force, but was eager and ready to return to civilian life when his enlistment ended.  He returned to New Orleans, where he eventually opened and operated the Decatur House, a successful restaurant located in New Orleans' famous French Quarter.  He served on the Royal Street Merchants Executive Committee, and led several initiatives that increased business and profits for merchants throughout the Royal Street area.  David never lost touch with his roots.  The customer service principles he learned from his days at the grocery were always evident in everything he did later on.
He was noted for his caring attitude and generosity towards his employees, and to locals who occasionally needed a little bit of a helping hand. He gave jobs and food to a lot struggling artists and musicians.  Several are now very successful and are still close friends of his today.

Despite his success in the restaurant and catering industry, David always felt Medicine was his true calling. After selling his restaurant, he partnered with a prominent local physician who founded the Omega Center, a high quality women's surgery center.  David's people skills and devotion to customer service created a quality experience for all of the hospital's clients and patients, and the business grew steadily.  He remained affiliated with the Omega Center until the untimely death of his partner from a rare form of cancer.

He formed a Clinical Trials Testing company, and spent seventeen years working with pharmaceutical companies performing FDA approval testing of new drugs.  His company became one of the premier Clinical Trials Testing companies in the Southeast, and David became one of the top patient recruitment and follow-up experts in America.  He and his wife Lawrene were often featured speakers on Clinical Trials Testing Company operations at major symposiums throughout the country.

Then along came Hurricane Katrina.  It flooded New Orleans, destroying David's home, and both of his Clinical Trials Testing facilities.  The efforts of seventeen years of hard work were seemingly washed away and erased by the flood. But David's reputation for excellence in the Clinical Trials Testing arena, and the relationships he'd built during those years brought the opportunity to create a state-of-the-art the country's best Rapid Detox Program.

Today, David brings his heritage of hard work, integrity, and quality service to the people who come to the Kaye Clinic for Rapid Detox for the help they need to get free from the pain and misery of drug addiction or dependency.

Ed Runci is a Co-Founder of the Kaye Clinic for Rapid Detox, and is responsible for its affiliation with top quality Recovery Management programs and organizations.  He began working in Drug Rehabilitation in 1968 as a Social Worker at a maximum security prison in Massachusetts, while taking grad courses in Abnormal Psychology and Sociology at a nearby college.   The Sociology course was actually taught at the Prison, by the Warden, Dr. Charles Gaughn, an innovator in the employment of rehabilitative techniques in prison environments.

In late 1970, he was called into the Army, and was assigned as a Logistics unit Platoon Leader in Germany.  Drug abuse was a serious problem within the military at that time.  Dr. Forrest Tennant MD, 3rd US Army Division Surgeon, was pioneering research and treatment programs for military personnel at the area's military hospital.  Ed was invited to participate in some of the drug abuse counseling programs established by Dr. Tennant. Dr. Tennant went on to become a well-known, internationally recognized expert on drug abuse, and is the Founding Director of the National Foundation for Pain Management.

In early 1972, Ed's Commanding General asked him to set up a Command-wide program to provide intensive in-house alcohol and drug abuse rehabilitation for any soldier who was willing to participate.  Participation was “voluntary”, but was often “encouraged” by the existence of criminal charges for possession and use of illegal drugs, or an alcohol related offense such as Driving Under the Influence (DUI), being under the influence of  alcohol while on duty, and similar offenses.

Ed utilized the principles of Dr. William Glasser's “Reality Therapy” to establish an effective short-term Live-In rehab program.  The Program treated the “whole soldier”, providing individual and group counseling, nutrition and proper exercise, language and culture lessons, military history and training, vocational skill testing, and a heavy influence on self-esteem building and personal responsibility.  It opened in August 1972 in Ludwigsburg, Germany, and by late 1973, was the most successful alcohol and drug abuse rehabilitation program in the entire U.S. military.  It was evaluated by the President's Commission on Drug Abuse, The Director of the UCLA Drug Abuse Treatment Training Center, The Johns Hopkins University Alcoholism Treatment Program, a Select Senate Committee on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, and numerous other organizations.  Ed and his team of military counselors and physical fitness experts helped a lot of soldiers eliminate drug dependency and return to duty, where they were given a chance at a new start with a clean slate.

After that assignment ended, Ed returned to Logistics and Information Management, pioneering many of the technology and organizational infrastructure innovations that became standard throughout the US Army. When he retired from the Army, Ed worked as an Information Technology Executive, Consultant, Executive Coach, and as an Advisor to a NY-based Investment Bank.  The Hurricane Katrina aftermath brought him full circle back to his original vocation of working with people who have drug addiction/drug dependency problems.

No matter what his “official job title”, Ed was always a coach, counselor and leader who looked out for the people who worked with and for him.   He helped many of them get advanced training and special skills, and gave them responsibilities and opportunities that led to promotions and new direction in their lives.  People have always been his focus, and helping people is what he likes to do.  When you choose the Kaye Clinic of Rapid Detox, Ed is one of the caring, competent, people-focused professionals who will be at your side throughout the entire process and beyond.
